Re: New member in Buckinghamshire
Hi there. Mine is the 130 Defender Northstar hardside rig. The top rail at the front of the alloy tub is very strongly mounted to the cast alloy corner posts and can be drilled to take a 10mm eyebolt - which is what I’ve done. Mine gets used heavily off road and this has proven to give both good ver...

Re: New Member - Petrol Pickups?
The new land Rover Defender will be produced in diesel, petrol and petrol/electric hybrid forms. So LR are certainly covering all options! Hopefully they will be producing a model suitable for demountables - but I fear the costs will make it very up-market.

Re: Scandinavia and eastern Europe - Nordkapp 2017
Hi Mike
I have a diesel pick-up point permanently fitted in the tank with a tube running to the rear near the tailgate where there is a connector. A pipe from the heater unit in the camper plugs in to this connector when mounted and when not a blank pushes into the connector to seal it.

Scandinavia and eastern Europe - Nordkapp 2017
It's often said that the journey is more important than the arrival at the destination. This was certainly true for our summer 2017 trip in our Land Rover Defender with Northstar truck camper up through Scandinavia to Nordkapp, the most northerly point on mainland Europe. Nordkapp itself turned out ...

Re: New from Portugal
Welcome to the group. My wife and I did a trip through Portugal from Guarda to the Algarve, mostly off-tarmac, with our demountable in 2012. We loved it!

Re: What Tyres Are you Using?
I'm running BFG A/Ts in 265 75 x 16 size they have a very high load rating (cant remember what though) and last ages - mine have done over 30k on the Defender and they are less than half worn. They are awesome in the sand when aired down, reasonably good in mud, puncture resistant and quiet on the r...

Re: Richie's Round The World
My wife and I have mountain biked down Whistler Mountain and the trails are fantastic - well planned and set out. We even saw black bears on one of our trips down. We used bikes hired from the botton of the gondolla which were very high quality with loads of suspension travel. Six months after the b...

Re: Using the Channel Tunnel
Totally agree, get hold of the current Vicarous books "All the Aires of France" and you will find some lovely aires both along the coast and ✖ country between Calais and Normandy. Two of particular note are Le Mans and Mont St Michele. The former is right in the centre near the old town and the seco...

Re: Drone deliveries as early as next year
I still think the future is teleportation. Teleporting Jan, me and the demountable to South America would be very handy!

Re: RunAway Midlands (back on in 2016)
Ummm interesting - I used to glide with my Uni gliding club at Lasham 30 odd years ago! Jan bought me a trial motorised flying lesson a couple of years ago - I was fine in pitch but tended to be too extreme in roll which must be a throwback to gliding.
We'd certainly be interested.
