Looking for experiences good and bad with different backup camera systems.
I see very nice systems at electronics shops, but...

Glad you asked that actually,
for a few years I had a camera>transmitter on rear of camper (concealed in exterior light)
as a reversing aid, then with a receiver>screen mounted in sunshade above steering wheel,
this worked Ok but then I changed car and forgot to remove it!

So now I use this; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265432672793 ... R4bk0OfuYQ

camera has its own battery which runs for some hours, a monitor on dashboard I can view as and when, (not just when reversing)

camera has magnetic base and can be positioned almost anywhere, and I can use it to hook up to trailer as well as on or inside camper

to watch for unsecured crockery, unlocked fridge etc :)

I have just bought this. The built in camera system just packed up on my truck and it was going to be mega bucks to replace. Last thing I want when hoping to buy a demountable camper.
Out of the box and charged it up. It is matched to the screen, so worked straight away. Got to fit it to the truck now, but its just a mount you fit behind your reg plate so hopefully should not be a problem.

I (had) a monitor fiited above sunvisor in hilux to a wireless camera hidden on rear camper wall which
worked just fine
right up ujntill i sold that truck and forgot monitor and little receiver in rear light cluster, so instead I bought

magnetic base on camera, couple of hours battery to hand held monitor on dashboard, also useful instead to leave (inside) camper so we can watch unlocked fridge swinging open and dumping milk everywhere

(also handy in horsebox to monitor nags when travelling)

In the caravan I always put the chilled stuff in a coolbag with cool blocks and transfered to the fridge once parked up. Preserved the interior of the fridge from stuff rattling about while travelling.

Finally got round to installing the Auto-Vox reversing camera yesterday.
Very easy to install. The longest job was washing and drying everything down before applying the adhesive mounting plate at the back of the number plate. 🤷‍♀️
Nice clear rear view.

Needing extra 12v plug in points I found this on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09DKX7JT3? ... tails&th=1

It even gives you a readout on your battery.
Each point is individually switched so its handy to turn the reversing camera off and save the battery till its needed.
Now I have one for the satnav/camera. One for the wireless reversing camera and a spare.
Its even red to match the truck. 🙂

This one as mentioned 4 posts back.😁

On the same link they do another type that you can use with 2 cameras. Handy if you have a big overhang on your demountable and want a second camera or even one mounted low and one mounted high.
