The first of the new DC-245s sitting on the trailer in Lelystad ready for the journey home. First public showing will be Camperex this weekend at the Royal Bath & West Showground.

BTW: Diesel price in Lelystad yesterday was a very agreeable €1.04 (82p) per litre and the Hilux manages around 25mpg on trips like this. That seems fair considering what it's being asked to do.

I guess if you consider fuel consumption good or bad depends on your expectations and what you compare it with. Even with care our L200 would rarely achieve 25mpg empty. With care and a single cabin on a trailer the Ranger might, just, manage 20mpg. We never tried it with 2 cabins. The Hilux loaded with two cabins still drives like a dream and it's a long haul back so we travel as fast as the conditions and law permit. 25mpg under those circumstances seems very reasonable.

Thank you for the good wishes. We started out with demountables around 35 years ago and only now do we have a cabin we are happy to sell for a double cab. The market in the UK for new cabins is tiny, maybe this one will help a little

We popped into Camperex saturday morning to meet Gary & Morag and check out the 245 prototype. Very impressed with everything about it and great to chat 'Cold spots' and all things De-mountable with Gary.

I felt sorry for all the exhibitors with the hailstorm and general wet day. We managed to stay for a couple of hours and wouldn't go again.

For anyone who might be interested in any of the Lely range, i would arrange a visit to see Gary at his site, definitely worth a visit.

Good idea - would be great to see Garry there with a camper for people to nose around.

We have Branscombe pencilled in and very much hope we'll be able to make it, not really from from a business perspective, more to put some faces to names.

We enjoyed Camperex. We met a lot of nice people including several forum members, and maybe we even sold some vans, but it certainly didn't live up to the billing for the visitors. A great shame.
I don't know what went wrong, the organisers certainly tried hard but sadly their efforts were not at all well rewarded. A number of the exhibitors blame (in part at least) a certain massive motorhome dealer who started pulling all their stuff out out the moment the rain came. Their salesmen didn't seem to like rain, or motorhomes come to that. The one that I spoke to was proud to brag that he hated camping! Well I suppose if you turn up to an event on grass, in April, in Gucci shoes and a fancy suit and you are going to feel a bit out of your depth
Sadly some others of a similar mentality upped and went too destroying what was already a rather disappointing show. Maybe I'm missing something but to my mind visitors deserve more respect than that. But then what do I know...
