I do indeed Clive - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Access-200x200m ... ss+hatches - I bought two of these 200mm square ones but they do also sell a bigger one and a smaller one. Just search 'access hatches' in all departments.Phoenixsp1 wrote:I don't suppose you have a link to the hatches on Amazon?

Finally I'm on a promise
of delivery of the 3mm ply tomorrow and hopefully then I can make more substantial progress on the camper. In the meantime, for want of much else to do, I've fitted the XPS insulation into the lower walls.

Definitely a case of the cart before the horse!

Re: saDgit's flat-faced pop-top
It was sadly predictable but the delivery of my 3mm ply didn't happen yesterday as promised. Grrrr! Nor did it happen today; and it's not going to happen tomorrow as that's a holiday again here. Aaaargh!! So the best I can hope for now is sometime early next week. There are many good reasons to celebrate living in France but customer service is not one of them!
Anyway, figuring that the front of the luton is the part of the camper that will be most susceptible to getting hammered by low branches and whatever else, I decided to go ahead today and skin that with a piece of thicker, stronger 5mm ply that I had spare.

Apart from putting some epoxy on it tomorrow I'm stuck again now but I guess it's another small step.

Well then Martin take a break, sit in the sunshine (that kind of thing)
guess you're sourcing this stuff in France so top marks on your French for technical stuff, there always seems to be someone in my way that can't quite follow the accent,

Oh, ok then, if I must. Sorry to read of your probs with the Hilux. Mechanical stuff is way out of my league - nothing to offer but sympathy I'm afraid - but you seem to be getting plenty of advice.zildjian wrote:Well then Martin take a break, sit in the sunshine (that kind of thing)

Finally the 3mm ply arrived yesterday and I've been able to make some headway on skinning the camper. I've started with the two curved roof panels - one's already done, the other one is glued in place ready and will get bent tomorrow when the glue has gone off.

I'm doing the roof panels before the walls because I don't know how neat I'm going to be when it comes to covering them with glassfibre and resin. I've done a little laying up of GRP before - not so much that I have any confidence in my ability not to get it everywhere, but enough to know that if I do get it everywhere it's going to be a pain to get rid of. So the wall panels are going to stay off 'til I've finished making a mess. Good to be progressing again though.
