Trouble with the loft ladder is how narrow the treads are. It would be horrible trying to use them like steps. I wonder if you rivet a wider step to each tread without it all falling to pieces under the strain. I've used those style of loft ladders and they aren't built very strong, they flex seriously when you climb up them. Hhhmmmmm...

Thanks for the input being a Yorshireman I wouldn't spend that kind of money without seeing one first so I know it would work.

Having watched a few videos on the tube I'm not convinced :?

You can get a 'proper' set for not much more than they cost.

(if it was me) and those loft ladders were cheap enough, I'd take one apart, double up those rungs so they were two to a tread see if that worked 8-)

maybe use three rungs per tread I think thats what I mean,
