So was this with the towing electrics plugged into the demountable?
Could it be an earthing issue?

Judging by the random symptoms it will be noise getting on the bus from any bad connection, the higher the current draw through an intermittent connector, the more likelyhood of interfering noise on the digital control bus. Old-fashioned substitution style fault diagnosis breaks down in the digital domain. A logic analyser is more likely to be used to track the symptoms back to a cause. Vaseline and a gentle squeeze on the connectors is more likely to effect a cure. The other area to inspect is the method of jumpering the tow bar connectors into the loom. It would be better to have them soldered rather than using piggyback connectors. They can work loose and create the same symptoms.

Time to come clean. My 22 years were spent fixing all manner of electronic equipments, all the way from thermionic valves, through transistors, TTL and subsequently LSI. Now I'm gony have to kill ya.

We had a motto in the service

"If I can't fix it, it ain't broke"

Like sorcery only based on Bullshit rather than necromancy.

Problem re-occurred this morning unloaded so not the camper electrics I thought.

Unhooked the battery in the hope it might reset but hasn't, so its off back to garage tomorrow where it was serviced and they can diagnose it hopefully, it does appear (as its intermittent) to be electrical and I'm hoping they disturbed a connection or sensor during service and so that might spring to mind in whichever of them worked on it

I just looked the problem up. Apparently it costs about £8000 to fix, and it could burst into flames at any moment.
I'll take that scrap old Toyota off you for a grand... And I'm cutting my own throat at that.

evidence its been tampered with over weekend but can't find any
