I know its caravans of course and doesn't belong here but reading that makes me think of farmyards and rows of 'stored' caravans and motorhomes covered in mildew as its too much trouble to go and get them ready

I'm over the moon I've found a way to leave my tailgate on with my EC6L. It'll save a whole lot of hassle and it's one less thing to do when mounting.
Oh and I've bitten the bullet and removed my roof bars.

On my Northstar it's not so much tail heavy as offside heavy - everything with any weight, bar gas bottles, is on that side; cooker, fridge, gas heater and tank, water tank. The only weight on the nearside is the gas bottles. I do try to even it out internally but without much luck as my personal belongings don't weigh as much as the other items. I do think my model is a poor design.
I'd love a Skarosser but can't seem to find one.

We quite liked the Northstar that we looked at with the L-shaped seating, but I guess that can cause one-sidedness. Some of the French campers that we've looked at online have all the seating on one side and all the cupboards - fridge etc. on the other which must be dreadfully one sided.

Unless you're rather fortunate, you'll probably have to take a trip over to Germany and get a Nordstar branded S.Karosser, they come up reasonably often on mobile.de.

Thank you. I didn't realise the Nordstar were the same - I thought it was a European Northstar

Tis all in the research and asking the right questions. There is a big German demountable specialist, not too far from Dusseldorf, which you can do in a day on the early chunnel, or fly/drive to view and take a trip with your pickup at a later time, should you spot one.
http://www.wohnkabinencenter.de
They're really helpful and I was looking to buy one from them, until Rich posted the S.Karrosser for sale in Dorset and I bought that instead.
If you're serious about buying one, i'd take a long weekend city break in Dusseldorf, which is a great city destination, visit the wohnkabincenter and maybe one or two private sales, if there are any in that area at the time you're travelling. If travelling by road, go early and come back late to avoid Brussels' rush hours, they're bad! I took the 0600 crossing and came back 2045, but I did stop at a mates for a night in-between, but it is doable in a day if you're pushed for time.

Thanks Madmountain.
I'm going round a mixture of new Demountable dealers, secondhand sellers and forum members, getting an idea of the merits of different makes and layouts of campers. All in this country so far, but maybe a trip to Germany would be useful. I've seen Apollo, Northstar, Tischer and Ranger so far. going down to see Gary and his Lely next week and have an SKarosser lined up too.
I'm also looking into the different makes of airbag available. Don't know if members have opinions of the best ones, or ones to avoid.

Marcle leisure, Amarok
I've bought from them a couple of times now so I can vouch for them at least, I think both Lostinthewilds & Finade bought elsewhere so you might ask for their input as well

And if you're going to Dusseldorf you could nip down the road (OK, 190 miles!) to Wertheim and visit Tischer's works. We're going there next month (good excuse really as we're going to a Christmas market nearby).
