Hi Guy, that looks like a nice job, I was looking at awnings last week saw a fiama in a bag which slide into an awning rail, seemd a lightweight solution, although they said that it should be wound in at night.
Enjoy Latitude one we would like to do. Take a look at port elliot festival which is in late July a smaller version of latitude I believe.

Hi Mike, I have just removed a fiamma in a bag awning like that which came with my camper. It was fine when out and did the job, but really difficult to open and close - you have to unzip the bag and unhitch it from some loops which is very awkward as it is so high up unless you carry a ladder for the purpose. Putting it away is worse as you have to roll it up by hand (keeping both ends evenly rolled not easy) and hitch it back into the loops - much easier with 2 people (and 2 ladders?). Most of the time I thought it not worth the effort, so am looking forward to the joy of just winding an awning out with a crank handle.

Their advantage is their light weight as you say, and if you do get one it might be best to fit an awning rail lower down rather than use the one on the roof edge like mine did. That would make it more accessible.

We have a full length Fiamma - 4m, I dread to think what it weighs!

How do they offer 'camping pitches' there, is it all cosy and compact like the refugee camp type pictures we see of glasto'?

Camping is a bit of a zoo at Latitude, even in the more civilised campervan area. We camped about three miles away and biked in, but to be honest its more relaxing to put up with the on site camping area so you can go back to yoyr camper for a rest. Theres a lot to see.
We only do small festivals now.. much more civilised and relaxed.

Hope Mr & Mrs Gisborne packed their waders then

although so far the weather has been pretty good, can you suggest a few smaller festivals Mark ?


they needn't be the sort of hipster hang-outs you say you hate so much, your among friends after all

If its all weekend they can expect as shower (from the news this morning anyway)
