I called The Miners Standard campsite this afternoon to book only 1 night tomorrow so I can do a recce in readiness for our gathering.
They confirmed their prices at £5 per head per night & hookup at 6amp is £2.50 per night & 10amp at £4.00 per night.
I've opted for the 10amp due to time of year with the heating being on plus a kettle etc.
We should've been going today but I pulled a job at a school for tomorrow morning, so went for the money instead
Nothing booked in on Monday so we may stay on for an extra night
They sounded very friendly on the phone, so lets see how it goes

We'd love to join in as well but my work patterns will not be clear until much nearer the time so I cant commit. It's also a bit far for a long weekend so we'd want to extend the stay a bit (again all subject to that awful complication - work). We also have a commitment with the camper in Wigton (Eurosully) in May with my (much, much older!!) brother's Golden wedding anniversary.

No worries Martin, maybe we'll have to have a Southern meet as well later in the year.
Plus there's a couple of shows that we're hopefully tagging along to.
So there should be quite a few opportunities throughout the summer for another get together

Make sure you let me know when you're in Wigton Martin, would be good to grab a coffee and a catch up.

The Golden wedding do is at the Greenhill Hotel on the A595 - we'll be staying in the camper round-the-back (the family have fully booked out the hotel) looking forward to "hooking up".

The Search goes on !
After a great weekend away from the teenagers. We felt that The Miners Standard pub / campsite is not suitable for a 2015 Social get together
For the following reasons, this campsite would only be a Plan C or D & after a brief phone conversation Zildjian Z. It has been decided to continue the search for a suitable campsite not necessarily attached to a pub in the same district. That way we can probably get Mark to do a BIG BBQ, because he's good at that sort of thing
& find some fishing for Mike
Pros:
Beautiful little village with plenty of local short walks.
2 pubs in the village both serving excellent food at very reasonable prices (Rib-eye Steak & chips £13.95 at the Miners & Traditional Sunday lunch £9.50 at the Bowling Green).
Cons:
If you want Hookup then you'll be practically in the car park.
The washing facility's were a little lacking with only 1 male toilet & shower & the same for the women. When your having a shower, you also lock the door to the toilet. ( could be a long wait with ✖ legs

)
Check out my photos as it's great for a getaway, just not for a gathering
