In the spirit of balance its worth pointing out Nissan aren't alone in their rust issue
Toyota:

'The settlement estimates the value of replacing the frame at roughly USD 15,000 per vehicle. Under the settlement, Toyota will inspect vehicles for 12 years from their initial sales or lease date to decide if the owner is eligible for a replaced frame or reimbursement' 3.4 Billion USD

How do they decided if an owner is eligible I wonder?

Being new to the pick up/4X4 scene in general, I never really thought about the aspect of cleaning the underneath of a vehicle after going 'off road' as such.

I'm guessing that if there's some caked on mud when they inspect the vehicle, you won't be eligible??
