Demountable camper group

Good morning

Has anyone had a custom tub made to better accommodate their demountable on the pickup truck?
If yes would you recommend it and who by?

The tub of my Toyota Hilux is showing its age and I am sure soon will have more rust than metal and I am wondering what would be the best option for replacing it.

Few years ago a runaway van smashed in the side of my Hilux, and with same idea as you I looked at these,

Would give you the luxury of more space to possibly create storage lockers alongside camper as many of the flatbed van owners have done, though you may possibly have to create some extensions sideways of the landing legs.

That looks super neat.

Think they offer their own lockers to go beneath as well if you'd like extra secure lockable space, but this solution is quite common on flat beds

They tend to be called "flatbeds" or "traybacks".

I've had a basic one made for my Ranger. Aluminium rather than steel for weight-saving reasons, and 10cm longer than the factory tub. Works out around 40kg lighter than the factory tub and you gain the extra space down the sides that would have been otherwise wasted. I can fit 2x 64L storage boxes on each side although you could also add external heaters / water tanks / showers etc.

It's worth noting that your camper will sit higher as it's now on top of the wheel arches rather than in between. I've since removed a row of C-channel to reduce the gap between the truck and camper around 100mm which looks a lot better.

I looked at the likes of the RSI above and approached custom fabrication companies for quotes - was looking at anywhere from 8k-20k if I wanted drawers and it powdercoated black which I couldn't justify.
