So driving along this morning country lane outside town, non-descript saloon car parked in layby (swarthy) driver flags me down;

"Thank you for stopping Sir (proffers business card at same time through window)
We need to reach Manchester for a business meeting and our car has run out of petrol, could you help me I need some petrol"

Me: "I can run you to BP station if you like, there's one along the road"

He slips a couple of 'gold rings' of his fingers & presses them on me
"I can give you a Thousand pounds if you help us out"
(His sidekick is wandering back down the road towards their car at this point, the principal grifter has my passenger door open and one cheek on the seat)
Me: "so you want me to fuel your car and give you money against these rings, where are you from?"

"I am an importer/exporter and live in Glasgow and on my way to Manchester"
This is all taking place outside Northamton BTW

(Grifter 0.2 has arrived at drivers window with his own selection of gold rings and offer of £1000 reimbursement by now)

Me: "Get out, your getting nothing" :mrgreen:

Well anyway it brightened my Sunday morning, I only had a trip to matalan scheduled originally but this made up for it
+ now I have a gold (coloured) ring to put in the for sale section:

Nice.. A bit of an update on the service station watch blokes......chancers. Was just about to ask you to put the dash am footage up for a bit of 'outing'.

Those 'gold' rings will make nice pipe olives if you enjoy a bit of DIY plumbing.

Do you think the guy in the red (renault?) was trying to warn you after they'd had a go at him?

Unlucky layby for me actually,
its where some dozy old bat tried a U-turn from as I came up over that rise a couple of years back
