To keep removing and re installing the hard top?

My Hilux isn't currently my daily drive but if we get a demountable it will be as my Landcruiser would have to go to fund the purchase.

As I would use the Hilux for work I would have to put the hard top back on every time.

I haven't had the Hilux long and have never had the top off so am wondering how much hastle it would be.

OK to be frank it might, most of us remove canopy in March and replace in September, I don't know which you have some are heavier than others, its not a single person job and takes (ME) 10 minutes to unbolt/unplug and handle,

you're right on the tailgate though(with an apollo anyway) it can stay in place and handily extend the loadbed too!

maybe try it and see whether you'd live with it or not first if you think it might be an issue

I have just invested in a block and tackle from machine mart for just under £60, just need to rig up a bar or beam in the workshop so I can raise it slightly from the back of the truck. Then drop it on to my new trolley I bought from Mark (rubberrat) recently.

Good idea the hoist if you have room

If your sliding it about and its a fibreglass like mine take care, it has some foam rubber on its underside
(where it sits on truck sides) so don't rip it off
mine has 12 bolts down through 6 clamps (3 each side)

then a heated screen/interior lamp & brake LED cable between cab/tub on N/s multi-pin plug

It's a steal top so the weight is a concern.

The wireing isn't currently connected so will just lift off.

I too use a block and tackle and a couple of ratchet straps. I take my canopy off and on every time I mount my camper and lower it onto my flatbed trailer. It only adds about 10mins to the mounting process.

So in steel then that would be like an ifor williams top I suppose,
at least they would be lighter than the fibreglass wouldn't it?
