Demountable camper group

Do you guys sit the camper on a piece of ply in the pickup or not?

Apollo cut one to go under it but not sure if it's needed or not?

we should probably do a poll on this as its a recurring issue,
I don't anymore,
in the past I've tried ply then rubber sheet, and neither seem to make any appreciable difference,
I'll set up a poll

My Mazda is boarded out so i have voted Yes or should i have voted No as i do not fit an additional ply sheet?

I must admit i have just had a right laugh at the 'Who put don't know' and reply.

I have a sheet of 18mm marine ply with a sheet of wetroom vinyl on. The main reason for my application is that I can't keep the loadliner in, it steals a vital 10mm that stops the camper sitting between the wheel arches.

Without the ply the camper would rub the paint in the buck and the steel ridges would dig into the camper base.

Horses for courses, but ply spreads the load and evens out high spots.

I'm also a 'Yes' voter with a spray liner & then a 40mm thick ply base to give the camper a little extra lift so as to clear my tonneau side rails on top of the tub sides. This means that I don't have to remove the tonneau cover every time we want to use the camper

I think the question is if you have a corrugated base on your pickup bed then you should use a piece of plywood as the apollos use 3 wood struts to support the camper for drainage and these struts can be in or out of the ruts in the base so the camper is not level ans under strain

Depends on the fit I guess but I voted 'no'. With our EC8L I made the loadliner removable and sat the camper directly on the bed - neat fit over the cab and the sides. With my self-build I'm planning to fix small 10mm bearers under the camper. They'll sit across the bed's corrugations and will just hold the ply base clear of any collected water.
