Maximum weight

If I have the camper and truck loaded to its capacity (not overloaded) am I still able to tow to the maximum tow capacity? Or is there a maximum train weight for the vehicle to include the trailer?

I may need to tow a rally car to events and would like to use the camper for accommodation.

There will be a maximum train weight for the truck which is likely to be less than the gross vehicle weight plus the maximum trailer weight.
For my Amarok the GVW is 3170, the maximum tow weight is 3200, but the gross train weight is 5950, not 6370.
You will also need to run with some nose weight on the trailer, which will affect the axle loading on the truck as soon as you hitch it up.

Evening Steve,

The maximum train weight is everything, Truck, Camper, Trailer & whatever load your carrying on the trailer.
When I up-rated the truck to 3.5t the train weight was increased from 5805Kg - 6350Kg.

So in theory I should be ok for towing a rally car.
It all depends what your truck is rated at ? & if you decide to go down the re-plating road :P :P :P
What rally car are you running & which rallies are you thinking of doing ?

We run a Subaru from time to time ;)

That's a Hover-Subaru. There is no effect on your gross train weight towing one of those since you just need to tie it to something to prevent it floating away  .

Steve.

The sticker was uprated, not the truck. For safety's sake the original GTW should be adhered to.

Best wishes

Gary,

The sticker is up-rated due to the extensive work I have carried out to the truck & the service given by SV Tech.
I also have the new replacement Log book which duplicates the figures shown on the new vin plate.
So therefore my truck is now rated @ 3.5t along with the increase on the rear axel load & Gross Train Weight.

Sometimes we have to put an extra load on the rear end so as to maintain traction

Although it does still have a tendency to just simply.........Takeoff ;)

I have two hilux pickups so I need to decide which one to up rate.

It's not my car its a classic Astra that my boss has just bought.

I'll check the original plate to see what I have to play with and take it from there.

Obviously weight of trailer as well as Astra must not exceed your 'MAM' (previously GVW) so you'll need to put it over a weigh bridge to know what your looking for
