Demountable camper group

Hi All

I was demounting and mounting the Bimobil last week, and the demounting was easy.
Has anyone got any tricks of the trade in terms of mounting the rear camping unit. I really struggled to get it square and centre. I could either get it square or centre, but not both!

I can see a bit of tech needed to be developed!, any advice gratefully received!

I'm considering putting two marks on the cabin, shining a handheld laser measuring device similar to the below and ensuring that they line up and central.

Helps if you are on flat level driveway of course, members use various methods from a strip something bright on front-centre of camper & something corresponding on rear window of truck (to match the two for centre)
string plumb lines on front corner of camper, I've tried all sorts over time with limited success but quite honestly its practise and usually without help seems to work best
as the assorted mysterious gesturing and shouting just detracts from the experience.

Bimobil are different in they don't have the channeling between wheel arches I find helpful, but visibility must be pretty good though

One I read on here somewhere ...
Put all these markers on the centre line
Line of celotape on the back window of the truck
Line of black tape on the lower part of the camper
A line along the truck bed from tailgate to cab
Fix a plastic hook to the front of the camper over hang and attach a length of removable chain.
When reversing all reference points need to be lined up , the reverse straight back . The chain should drag along the bed line .
I will try it when I get round to it , I will try to do a video.

You already have the tools for that. If you line up a short distance in front of your rig and watch both "wing" mirrors till you get the same (reversed) picture in each mirror. Then go back slowly watching both mirrors and keeping the picture the same in each mirror. It works for me, better than all the other methods I've tried.

I use the mirror method too. First get the rear wheel arches equidistant from the front legs then I make sure the rear tub walls are equidistant from the sides of the camper as I reverse. It was much easier with my Northstar in many ways.

Obviously not possible with a Bimobil.

The mounting lugs on the Bimobil range of campers are designed to assist with correct location. They have a tapered shape and as long as they descend within the designed tolerances they shoogle into place as they settle. I thought that was a design master stroke and would design something equivalent into any future rig that I might build. You can do something similar with any rig that has a flat area sitting on the buck sides. A couple of pieces of 2x1 fixed underneath, whose length and width spacing match the insides of your buck when the rig has descended into the correct position. You could put a 45 degree bevel on the outer edges to help the camper settle into the right spot.
