If you are talking about regular flares then disposal is one thing.

If you are talking about flares inspired by the Bay City Rollers then disposal clearly needs to be handled by professionals with suitable protective equipment. Especially if they are jeans with triangular tartan inserts sewn in by someone's mum.

Once upon a time I used to sell boats. Lots came in with out of date pyos, but also being an RNLI crew member meant I could pack them up in strong boxes and send them to Poole for disposal.

These days I find they make excellent, if somewhat unpredicable fireworks so come November I dig into my stock.
The para flares can be a bit dodgy mind as they are usually still well alight when the reach the ground so can be a bit heavy on neighbours sheds.

Oh yes... Orange smoke flares are brilliant for clearing rabbit wardens.
