Another MOT out of the way

MOT'd my truck yesterday - about 6 weeks early, firstly because we will have to head to Cornwall in the next week - first grandchild due (thats a 1000 mile trip with running about down there)- and also because i've done a over 10,000 miles this year, a significant chunk of it on rough roads so best to check it over.

I knew the rear spring hanger bushes were tired so replaced with new hangers and polybushes, and the old girl sailed straight through (again) with just an advisory on one front shock.

So far, this particular truck has been the cheapest vehicle to own in 20 years! (£120 for MOT bushes, hangers and fitting - get in!)

Probably for many of us being a bit more likely to have them looked at on a regular basis,
they're test is less likely a surprise as before,

so fewer crap cars about although still the usual suspects at roadside on the holiday routes with their bonnets up
that or the de-rigeur burnt out Kombi
may be we could start a first (smouldering) VW of spring competition





be sure and leave a card tucked beneath blackened wiper though

in memoriam......

My old Isuzu 3.1 pickup truck failed the MOT last week, terminal rust so I'm just waiting for the breaker man to turn up and take the old workhorse away. I'll miss that 3.1 - what an engine, could pull anything, never noticed the big twin axle trailer on the back yet on a run at sensible speeds would return 35 mpg

At least they go for more than just the scrap value

Out of interest where is the rust worst ?

As I mentioned yesterday, I am a fan of the isuzu as they seemed really solidly built

Alot of chassis rust and also cab rust near mounting points of cab

Oh and a snapped spring at rear

I think it was an import so not rust proofed for our roads.

I like the Isuzus, they are stong trucks and have high towing limits.

But I would probably go toyota if I replaced the pickup, I know they can be uprated to 3.5 tonnes so giving a better payload, only problem is they hold their value well. I also know a company who knows toyota backwards (overland cruisers), Julian is very good and knows his stuff

Yes, imports don't like British road salt do they. I owned a couple of Pajeros in he past and waxoyled them as soon as imported, they lasted forever after that.

My Chevy Isuzu Holden is I presume also an import but seems to be untouched by he dreaded tin worm.

What about the Sea air though, whenever I look at anything that spends its time parked at quayside it looks ready to fall to pieces
