Weights

Out of interest, I weighed my truck yesterday, with the hard top on and 'wet' (half tank of fuel and a bit of kit in the back) it came out at 2100kg. The camper is 650kg and allowing around 100 - 200 kg of load for water, camping kit etc, plus myself & Mrs rubber & slightly overweight dog, say a total of around 150 kg, so we run at around 3000 - 3100 KG MAM, 4-500 kg below the permitted max MAM of 3500 kg.

Good for our overseas excursions when we carry a bit more kit - folding bikes etc on the back seat of the truck.

It's worth a visit to your weighbridge just to be sure you are on the right side of the law and safe (VOSA just love pulling you into a layby and lightening your load by emptying your wallet)

Yes, putting mine on a weighbridge this year
We don't carry much water anymore and often shop close to destination but soon mounts up doesn't it, all those little bits so it would be nice to know for sure

i'll do that next time I load. I use the bridge at Coxford Quarry - not far from you, but as i'm a regular customer I can use it for free.
Any idea what the rear axle weight limits are for the most popular trucks?

The rear axle weight for my D40 is 1,960Kg & the payload is 1,210Kg
The Dry weight of my Skarrosser 585Kg so I've got 625Kg to play around with.
The Kerb weight is 2,100Kg & the Gross weight is 3,210Kg.
Don't forget folks that your Kerb weight only includes a full tank of fuel but no passengers. You need to allow an average of 85Kg per passenger & your fresh water tank will weigh 1Kg per litre. So that takes me down to 395Kg for clothes, bikes, kayak, bacon & beer :P :P
I think I may have overdone it on the 'Sherry' though
