How do they mount

Post: # 4167Post Bookend

I may be very close to purchasing our first demountable.

I need to know how they tie down to the tub without external fixings.

I take it the standard tie down points arnt strong enough. So I assume it's a case of drilling the tub?

I need to know so I'm prepared for when we collect it.

Have a read of this topic, it should help you understand better. Of course it all depends on which camper your buying ;)

What are you on the verge of buying ???

Typically (and without knowing what your buying) four eyebolts
two before tailgate hinges two more just within wheelarches,

or depending if you've found an apollo you may be able to use a pair of truck cargo straps dangled down between tub/cab to get it home

Take a look at the 'popular questions' section, and look for 'loading a demountable' there you will see a photo guide and will see the eye bolts and attaching turnbuckles.

Edit ** Peaky, your link didn't show on my phone hence the 'directions' above, sorry bud!

It looks like we will be putting a deposit on a new Apollo tomorrow.

We need a 4 berth layout so that limits our choice a little.

We have looked at second hand Apollos but have been concerned re damp issues once they get damaged and everyone we have looked at was damaged in some way.

At least with a new one we should be ok for a few years and we have secured a good deal.

I'm rearly looking forward to trying it out providing we can get it home in one piece.

That's Great news Steve, it's good to hear that you've got sorted out :)
I'm sure that Apollo will help you load the camper & show you where to connect / strap it to your chassis as part of their new sales service.
Does this mean that we may see you at our 1st Social Gathering at the back end of June ???

OK then, well I went up to RichC in Leicester with his Mitsi/apollo and I'm pretty sure you can take some cargo straps and hold it at the front down as I say to the chassis behind cab,

the rears:
have you got a wide towbar most of the way across back of hilux like mine? because you should be able to strap the rear down around that to get it home, then you can add some eyebolts like in the FAQ link in best accessible place to get all the time
