Prior to collection we received excellent information from them about the Tischer and Milan.
We had some electrical problems with the Amarok socket (still to be resolved) but Luca sorted everything else and the Tischer dropped on the truck as if it was meant to be there.
Worth a look at Mondo’s web site if you’re looking to take advantage of the current exchange rate - http://www.mondopickup.it/index.asp He sells his own truck campers and suspension systems and deals in used – there’s a Tischer 260 for sale now.
We were sold on Tischer for build quality and they come with lots of equipment – ours has a 2 burner hob, sink with mixer tap, 2 way vent, opening skylight, blinds and mossie nets, lots of insulation, Truma heater, Dometic fridge, Thetford loo, shower, basin, 90l fresh water tank, 50l waste tank and plenty of storage (so far!).
We took the scenic route back through the Alps and promptly achieved our ambition of getting lost in the wilds – this is our first night stop:

We wild camped for four nights without problems – here’s another site:

The Amarok performed faultlessly over the 2500 miles we covered and we’re getting more and more impressed with it. Plenty of power up the mountains, very comfortable and lots of room since we took the rear seat out. Fuel consumption varied between 25 and 30 mpg depending on the degree of urgency. The 8 speed auto gearbox is superb. It was our first experience with air suspension but everything worked well.
