Gas consumption
Gas consumption
I'm trying to figure out how long the Gas would last in the Apollo if I was camping off grid.
So using for the fridge and hot water with a bit of cooking.

Re: Gas consumption
We just got back from 2 nights away, fridge on and started from ambient plus water turned on but to be honest it heats up in 5 mins or so, so I just turned it on when required and it kept warm for a good while, then several brews made and a pot of pasta cooked, all that and the gauge on the tank still showing full. Oh we put the hot air on for 15 mins friday night it was cold!!.
I was quite pleased.

The 6KG bottle has a sticker on it from 2014 and the agent pushed it back on me then saying it was half full,
this means I'm not qualified to comment (but I have anyway)
also we now carry a 3KG bottle just for the alfresco hob and I'll bet that will do a year too

Re: Gas consumption
Last summer in the South of France my 6Kg Gaslow lasted me 4 weeks wild camping with fridge, hot water and cooking. Last winter in the Alps (-21) with heating on 24 hours a day I used my full gaslow a 6kg Calor Lite and a standard 6Kg Calor propane in 2 weeks.

Re: Gas consumption
That's the best 'gauge' of usage right there ^ ^ I wondered how long it would run the heating 24hr for.
In general use with a few gas saving techniques our two 6kgs came back with one well over half full after a two month tour of Europe. But lots of hook-up and outdoor cooking and no heating off grid.

My EC6 gas cupboard's got two 3kg bottles in and i'm reading here that a couple of you have 6kg. Have you got photo's and info on how they fit? I'm not too worried if I can't fit a bigger bottle as Gaslow now do a 2.7kg twin system, but a 6kg system may be preferable.

Re: Gas consumption
We did about a week on each 3.9kg propane on most of our northstar trips. That's with some hot water, fridge, cooking and occasional cabin heating. Off grid the whole time. We used to take three bottles, two full and one in use and we never ran out of gas. Our longest trip with that rig was about 15 days.
