De-Mount registered as a Motorhome?

This is with reference to the L200/Apollo combi in the sales thread 07/08/15.

Can anyone explain what, if any, advantages that might be gained by doing this/ I felt it it better to ask on the Forum, rather than bother the Vendor.

Might you get a better insurance deal bearing in mind the mixed reviews on that area on another thread here.

If the rig is registered & insured as a "Motorhome" then I would suspect that it would never be able to be de-mounted. If it was & the truck was used as a "Truck" then you would not be insured & possibly neither would the demountable. My insurance from Campton's covers me for 10k business miles as a truck & 5k miles as a combined rig. The demountable is also insured while I am using the truck separately, if it is on my drive or a campsite.
So on this basis, I would not register a demountable rig as a "Motorhome" :geek: :geek:

Odd one that and something we've not come across on here yet but I would be inclined to go along with Peaky on the not-insured bit,
plus its bound to go wrong as you either take it off or put it on and damage both elements at same time,

you know what happens

not sure its such a good idea insuring something essentially two parts as one vehicle that doesn't sound quite right
