Weighing demountable using bathroom scales
I just went out in the rain and put my digital bathroom scales under the rear jack of the Suntrekker and got a reading of 167KG, if I put the scales under the other 2 jacks and add the weights together I take it this will give me an accurate weight or I could just multiply 167 by 3 = 501kg for an estimate?

I hope the weather is a bit better than here, i've just got soaked?zildjian wrote:#Settles back on holiday with huge box of popcorn

I've measured the weight at all jacking points now.
Rear 167.5kg +
Front right 108.5kg +
Front left 133.0kg
= 409kg
The jacking legs weigh 41kg between them and there is 25kg of tools etc in the camper at the moment, so the unladen weight of the box on its own, comes out at 343kg

Do people think this sound about right?

The only accurate way to weigh
will really have to be on nearest weighbridge, I know what your saying about doing it by corner and getting a mean figure but this was tried on here before using proper truck weighing pads and the results were a bit miserepresenative at the time

I think the key thing is that the suntrekker only has 3 jacks, 2 at the front and 1 at the back so you don't get the loading against the jack in the opposite corner that you would with 4, if that makes sense? I will however take it to a weighbridge when it's complete which will probably show my theory up to be complete claptrapderestrictor wrote:The only accurate way to weighwill really have to be on nearest weighbridge, I know what your saying about doing it by corner and getting a mean figure but this was tried on here before using proper truck weighing pads and the results were a bit miserepresenative at the time

The only way to weigh the camper with bathroom scales is to weigh all the legs at the same time. The total weight from all sets of scales has no choice but to be right. To within the accuracy of the scales used.

Watching this with interest,
on a side note we inadvertently parked up beside VOSA as they were weighing a truck at roadside on A34 below Oxford

I wonder if you can get a screen mounted VOSA detector - I'd buy one..
