Well then,
following the weekend away 'Taz' the older Springer has developed a sore paw (keeps licking it)
examined him upside down carefully checking his pads for thorns etc but nothing,
anyway it didn't go away after a day so we visited vet tonight with him, She found a swollen toe and swelling between two of them,
maybe an infection, maybe twisted it landing awkwardly, maybe a sting of some sort who knows, we neither of us heard him
yelp, but there were an awful lot of wasps in Dorset, anyway
some pain relief, I think some AB and a return on Friday for an update on his progress

Meant to mention, I did ask about aspirin but perhaps predictably they said no, not for dogs,
"there is a dog version available prescription here"

judging by the £72 bill for consult & drugs, I think we know who got 'stung' certainly :D

That paw thing, that is exactly what happened to Dexy, sore paw, swollen...thought he had picked up a 'puncture'.. but it never went down, in fact became more enlarged and was part of his arthritic process. O/S/F paw was always 20% larger than N/S/F

update then;

after the vet visit (Dr Dog) the paw improved in its swelling going down, the pain killers meant he could walk on it almost immediately, a return visit yesterday and check up saw him leave with steroid cream and plastic cowell over his head to keep him licking it off skin.

apparently a skin irritation between toes but no foreign body under the skin,

better make sure it can drink water by itself, those collars are quite difficult to get near a waterbowl
