Anyone (else) got one of these portable hobs....
Re: Anyone got one of these portable hobs....
Kampa stuff is middle market - perfectly OK, but not premium like Coleman etc. Will do what you want though, but there are so many second hand used once cookers from folk who have tried and failed at camping on the market for £10-£30 that it would hurt badly to buy a new one.

Local camping concession had them for £40 (but then a 20% discount over weekend) so we bought one, a table for it to go on and a bit of hose and a regulator,
I'll use the gas on-board for now, then scavenge a bottle from somewhere to hand in as a refill later.
If we'd thought of it last week I should have placed an ad in sales but thanks for all the offers you lot

What sort of bottle are you after, I've plenty of spare Camping Gaz bottles and you're welcome to have one FOC?zildjian wrote:Local camping concession had them for £40 (but then a 20% discount over weekend) so we bought one, a table for it to go on and a bit of hose and a regulator,

I don't think it has calor on it, camping gaz is another company? You can still have it if it's any good to you though?zildjian wrote:Gas shop man says "bring in anything with 'calor' printed on it, any size or shape"

No it need the Magic 'Calor' name on it to claim my free new one
Not being sure over gas consumption I'm unsure on best route on this, don't want to lug another bottle around for minimal use
Mark had an idea of adding a second junction of existing bottle, so something else to ponder.
If you are considering which way around to sleep in that camper now, you must be getting along with project pretty well

It was just I read the old magazine article on the suntrekker yesterday and today I was attaching the roof panel I've made for the Luton. So I had to lie in there head first, just thought it was how I'd imagine being in a coffin was like. Still making gradual progress, I need to pick up some led strip lights next and then I can get all the panels permanently reattached inside as I got the side panels recarpetted on Thursday. Will hopefully get some pictures if my camera turns up.zildjian wrote:If you are considering which way around to sleep in that camper now, you must be getting along with project pretty well

Y'know I have an image of your personal kingdom Mark,
its border carefully patrolled and monitored behind net curtains by the neighbours for signs of escaped bits & pieces rolled out of the garage and into the road
I'm seeing gas bottles amongst this & I know pyromania figures quite high on your list of precious things
