There seems to be a lot on here about reinforcing the truck bed . At the other end of mine it is bolted to 1/2" ply ! The original fixing point as in photo 2 is pulling the horizontal panel away from the outer vertical panel. I want to move my fixing bars to inside the tub , rather than outside ,from the cardboard template to the truck bed . I can get a good lower fixing to a reinforced member . Any comments welcome .

Personally not in favour of them like that, is it possible to bolt a sizeable eye-bolt upwards into camper somewhere further forward, (I think main purpose at back of camper is to pull ⬇︎downwards) not ➘ especially

I could achieve that , and a strap straight down would give me an even better lower fixing . My reason for doing it my way was to share the load between 2 panels and any downward force on the upright ply would not pull it away from adjoining panels..

Well an 'L" shaped lump of steel plate in generous proportion 6" square each piece with bar or hoop welded
at 90 deg, bolt through both sheets upwards/sideways into camper




just consider about now though what your actual linkage will be in length and will there be room access to operate it easily

That would be perfect , but I have that timber batton (35x15) in the corner , which I don't really want to cut out . I could use my method and fit your L bracket on the inside .

Latest design.
Using my lower Happijac mounting bolt at the upper under end on the camper , and a standard eye bolt on the truck bed into across member.
Perhaps wider steel would be better , but I would prefer to bend to shape rather than weld.

one self respecting speed bump will bend/tear something at back end of camper

I agree , bigger is usually better . How are other campers fixed ? Northstar think that 2 bolts and penny washers on a week corner is enough .

Mine is roughly a postcard sized sheet steel plate on the interior corresponding with same outside and a welded hoop,
