Bulk head buffers

Looking at mine they have seen better days . They also look quite long , they protrude about 45 mm further forward than anything .They also have put dents in the truck bulkhead . Mine is a ribbed design . I was thinking of removing them and replacing them with a full width piece of timber about 20 mm thick. This would get the camper forward 25 mm and spread the load against the bulk head . What does yours look like ?
Thanks Jim

I have ordered these . They are 8" long so they should rest on 2 vertical raised ribs on the truck bulkhead , any shorter and it would only catch one . I still think 2" thick is a bit much and may trim them to about 1" . It would be interesting to know how much more payload it would give me by moving the camper forward 1" .

can you get behind these to bolt them on, or have you screwed them on with extras long screws?

The old ones were screwed on, I think that will be good enough . I don't think there is much point in ratcheting them really hard up again the bulk head as it has little strength . I did try loading the camper about 1" from the bulkhead , but it made it very difficult to drop the camper level , I have a built I ladder rack which gets in the way .I will leave the buffers at 2"
